Vineyard Rabl

Rudolf Rabl Jr. enjoys the rich traditions of his winery estate whose history dates back to 1750 when it was mentioned first in a document. Together with his father, Rudolf Rabl Sr. the family winery has expanded to cover 50 hectars of vineyards and counts among one of the leading “Great” wineries in Langenlois, the center of the Kamptal wine region.

The Rabl’s love of nature and of the grapes, their vineyard work with ecological methods, as well as their knowledge of modern winemaking techniques all join together to create excellent quality wines of the various grape varietals. These are perfect conditions to support the motto of the winery, “Many varietals - all of the finest quality”. The high quality is made possible by the unique soil conditions which exist throughout the extensive vineyards.

A tight cut of the vines, careful pruning and yield reduction produce the best extract rich grapes. These are harvested by hand and then carefully de-stemmed and pressed. The fermentation and maturation occurs in stainless steel tanks or in wooden barrels in a wine cellar that is 7 meters underground.  At the proper time, each wine is filled into bottles and is stored in a cellar that has a constant temperature throughout the year. This is especially important during a wine’s fragile youth, ensuring a regulated and gentle maturation of the wines.

For their commitment and love of wine in the last years, the Rabl Winery has been awarded numerous national and international awards:

The award as “Best Austrian Winery” that Rabl Winery won at VinItaly in Verona in April 2004 has confirmed our past efforts and has challenged us to continue on our chosen path with even more determination and focus.
